Delhi and its surrounding areas in recent days have become riddled with hazardous levels of smog. This as per experts has been caused due to stubble burning by farmers in areas nearby Delhi-NCR. The smoke emanating due to this burning of stubble has been trapped in the Delhi-NCR region due to the westerly winds bringing it into the region and easterly winds reducing the temperature and trapping the fumes.
We had reported yesterday, how while this whole pollution situation was panning out in Delhi, its Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder Singh were seen passing the buck when it came to taking action. Kejriwal via his tweets was seen urging Amarinder Singh to grant him a meeting to discuss the pollution woes, while the latter was not agreeing to it.
Amarinder then passed the buck on to the centre and Kejriwal decided to play on to again request Amarinder to grant him a meeting so that they both together could “urge” the centre.
Kejriwal was embarking on such an exercise even though his own party leader from Punjab was seen burning stubble in October in order to push the Amarinder government to agree to a few farmer related demands.
After this episode played out, AAP’s website came out with an article titled (translated to English), “Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is fighting a solitary battle against air pollution”.
This article began with claiming how the Delhi CM by executing all his responsibilities was appealing to the Centre, Haryana government and Punjab government to schedule a meeting for finding ways to alleviate the pollution.
Then in a tone favouring Kejriwal, detailed his episode with Amarinder Singh and embedded tweets of journalists who seem to have supported Kejriwal in this matter, before concluding the report by taking the moral high ground and bashing the centre in one of the sentences.
After this article went live, Kejriwal decided to tweet it with the commentary that, Kejriwal was fighting a solitary battle against air pollution in Delhi:
वायु प्रदूषण के ख़िलाफ़ अकेले जंग लड़ रहे हैं दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल – Aam Aadmi Party https://t.co/zggVu0Ri21
— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) November 9, 2017
Such a tweet amused a lot of people who felt it was an exercise in self praise by Kejriwal, even as Delhi is far from cured of the said pollution:

One user even sarcastically praised Kejriwal for this act:

It is certainly amusing to note that a political leader is spending his time indulging in such self promotion on twitter instead of coming up with a long term plan for ridding the capital of such pollution woes in the future.
