On Tuesday it was reported how Pakistan had meted out an inhuman treatment to Kulbhushan Jadhav’s wife and mother while they tried to meet their kin, who is confined by Pakistan over allegations of him being an Indian spy. The Ministry of External Affairs in a press release detailed the inhuman treatment of Jadhav’s family members which included asking them to remove their bindi, sindoor and bangles.
As a result of this, many Indians were outraged by Pakistan’s antics, but appears Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal was not one of them. Agarwal today stirred up a major controversy by condoning the inhuman treatment which was meted out to Jadhav and his kin by Pakistan:
#WATCH: “Agar unhone (Pakistan) #KulbhushanJadhav ko aatankwadi apne desh mein mana hai, to wo uss hisaab se vyavhaar karenge; humare desh mein bhi aatankwadiyon ke saath aisa hi vyavhaar karna chahiye, kada vyavhar karna chahiye” says Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal pic.twitter.com/owm0DJ8xGd

In the ANI video, Agarwal when asked about the insult meted out to Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family, is heard saying that it is an internal policy matter of Pakistan. He further claimed that if Pakistan considers Jadhav to be a terrorist then they can treat him accordingly, and India should also treat terrorists in a similar way.
Such a statement about an Indian citizen, who by various accounts has been framed by Pakistan, angered a lot of people:
Naresh Agarwal, (SP member and Congress ally) justifying the treatment meted out to the wife and mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Is there any country where a major political party would condemn its own citizen thus and then support what was done to citizens of their own country who were not under trial? https://t.co/P7QW7hbe9n

Anti Modi statements are too mainstream these days that leaders of Samajwadi Party have to give anti-national statements to seek media attention. https://t.co/nJzVBMz4XM

Samajwadi Party has always epitomized political illiteracy in some of our leaders since ages. Neta Ji justifies Rapist launde hain, galti ho jaati hai .. Chota Neta calls Gujarati voters as Donkeys and now this man justifies a Terrorist state and it’s action !! Shameful bunch https://t.co/TtIHwPUfGO

Now the Job is set for “Liberals” to prove Jadhav is a Terrorist. Gupta Ji, & others will write “Clever spins” to bring argument closer to that level…. https://t.co/WyKImN5KqV

Even political leaders slammed Naresh Agarwal’s statement:
Sorry, no. Even if it were 2b conceded #KulbhushanJadhav is a terrorist, which it is not, no civilised society shd behave cruelly w/innocent family members. If Pakistan had admitted #Kasab ‘s nationality & his mother had visited India, we shd have treated her with sensitivity?? https://t.co/ot0JOr7ClH

So sad that Samajwadi Party leader sides with Pakistan. We dont need such leaders & parties that cannot empathise with a family which is fighting for justice.
He has done great disservice to the nation & to the cause for which @PMOIndia & Smt @SushmaSwaraj ji are fighting for. https://t.co/EHEIyEAFtg

Naresh Agarwal in the past too has managed to create a controversy via his outspoken demeanour.
It was reported how he had in July linked various Hindu gods and goddesses like Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman with alcohol. He was also alleged to be involved in a sex racket and had condoned Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad’s assault of Air India official. During the run up to the Lok Sabha he had stated that a tea seller could never become a good Prime Minister.
