BJP demands sedition charge against Kerala CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for his alleged pro-China stand

Days after Kerala Chief Minister lauded North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, another CPM leader was caught allegedly praising North Korea while making pro-China statements. During the delegates meet of CPM Alappuzha district, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan reportedly said that the axis power formed by ‘capitalist countries’ like the USA, Japan, Australia and India are leading the forces to act against China.

Like Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kodiyeri also praised North Korea for ‘utilizing funds for welfare schemes for strengthening army power in order to ensure survival for the country. Claiming that the North Korea is facing external threat from the USA, it is accumulating more arms.

Responding to the same, the BJP district president, S. Suresh, has demanded that the police initiate sedition proceedings against Kodiyeri. This statement had come at a time when there were incursions by China on the border. S. Suresh claimed that Kodiyeri’s remarks amounted to ‘challenging’ and ‘insulting’ the Indian Army, who are trying to check Chinese threat in the Doklam region.

Earlier, CM Vijayan had applauded North Korea for following a tough anti-USA agenda. No wonder the communists in India could double up as mini Kims themselves. You will not find any of the new age social justice warriors, Kanhaiya Kumar, Gurmehar Kaur and gang being critical of North Korea. Now we know, because secretly, they probably applaud Kim for ‘taking on’ the powerful US.

The only time some of them, or their friends, mentioned ever-mysterious North Korea is when Arun Shourie called some Indian media channels, which were not spewing venom against Narendra Modi, as “North Korean TV channels”. Which then makes Vijayan’s accolades for Kim a little ironic. Especially when CPM uses Kim in their posters to announce party gatherings in Kerala.

There is a very thin line between satire and reality and seems like CPIM crosses it way too often.
