Preeti Sharma Menon, Aam Aadmi Party leader who is otherwise known for playing low level politics on social media, referred to women who were raped as ‘soiled’, triggering outrage.
She was referring to the film Padmaavat where women committed Jauhar (self immolation to avoid capture, enslavement and rape by Islamic invaders) and was arguing how women who are raped do not lose their right to live. Of course, While the argument is absolutely on point, the fact that AAP leader used the term ‘soiled’ to refer a raped woman is disturbing, to say the least.
That she is unapologetic about her twisted views and abusive trollish behaviour says something about the kind of leadership AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal exudes.
So when @sanjukta had @greatbong for breakfast after my tweet, he ran crying to the arms of trolls like @ShefVaidya. ?
Shoo now! We are all past getting affected by trolls.— Preeti Sharma Menon (@PreetiSMenon) January 29, 2018
She got called out for her use of derogatory words to refer to a rape victim, but she remained unaffected.
‘Soiled woman’???? You are as bad as him if you use such terminology.

My God! Relics like @PreetiSMenon still exist? She is referring to a rape victim as a ‘soiled woman’. How regressive and misogynist is that! I am shocked!! https://t.co/7oeKwohu1X

But then it would be too much to expect from a party where their leader asks an activist who complaints about sexual harassment to ‘compromise‘. Wonder if Preeti Sharma Menon also thinks the AAP activist who committed suicide was also ‘soiled’?
