Narendra Modi was in his elements today as he tore into the Congress Party in his speech on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. He rebutted the claims of the Congress Party in detail and took several digs at its policy failure and its boastful claims.
- In a scathing attack, Narendra Modi put the blame for the partition of the country squarely on the feet of the Indian National Congress. He stated that India is still suffering from the seeds of hatred sown in the country as a consequence of the actions of the Congress Part during that period.
I see that whenever we are criticised by select Opposition parties, substance is lacking. They go back to saying- when we were in power….
This is the same party that divided India: PM @narendramodi in the Lok Sabha

- Narendra Modi also ripped into the claims of the Congress party that democracy was a gift granted to India solely by Nehru. Narendra Modi mentioned that the statements of leaders from the Congress Party gives one the impression that the Indian nation came into being on the 15th of August, 1947 and that such an opinion reeked of arrogance and hubris.
How can one of the leaders say India got a democracy due to Pandit Nehru and the Congress Party? Is this their reading of India’s history? What arrogance is this: PM @narendramodi in the Lok Sabha

- The Prime Minister elaborated on the many ways in which the Congress Party violated the ethos of Democracy. He accused the Congress Party of lacking commitment to the principles of Democracy citing the many occasions when the central government under Congress dissolved state governments at their whim and without any proper reason for it.
How did the Congress act in Kerala, how did they treat the @Akali_Dal_ in Punjab, how did they behave in Tamil Nadu? Why did Congress dismiss so many state governments at their will. This is no commitment to democracy: PM @narendramodi

- He also mentioned how if true democratic principles had been respected, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel would have been the first Prime Minister of India and not Nehru. He again stated that had the stalwart from Gujarat assumed the seat of the Prime Minister, the whole of Kashmir would have been under Indian control today.
- Narendra Modi also mentioned the numerous occasions on which the Gandhi family had insulted popular leaders from non-privileged backgrounds. He mentioned how former President of India, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy was humiliated by the Congress. He also mentioned the insult suffered by Congress leader T. Anjaiah at the hands of Rajiv Gandhi.
When Rajiv Gandhi landed in Hyderabad, how did he behave with a Congress leader Mr. T Anjaiah. He humiliated a big leader, who did not belong to a privileged background: PM @narendramodi

- He also remarked upon the ‘coronation’ of Rahul Gandhi as the President of the Congress Party and how the whole internal machinery of the party was used against a young leader to prevent him from contesting the election against Rahul Gandhi.
In December, did we witness an ‘election’ or coronation for the post of Congress President? One youngster raised his voice about this as well: PM @narendramodi in the Lok Sabha

- Narendra Modi also observed how the entire state machinery was used to promote the image of the Nehru-Gandhi even at the cost of the development of the country. He observed that the history of our nation had been distorted and true heroes of the nation were not paid their due for the Congress feared that it will take away the limelight from the only one family that they care about. He remarked that the entire media had been used to spread sweet songs about the deeds of the Nehru-Gandhi family and shield them from all criticism.
For decades, one party devoted all their energies to serving one family. The interests of the nation were looked over just for the interests of one family: PM @narendramodi

- The Prime Minister also accused the Congress Party of trying to create a sense of hopelessness in the country merely for political gains. And he deemed it shameful that when the Army was resisting Chinese forces at Doklam, Rahul Gandhi chose to meet Chinese officials instead of consulting the government on the issue. He also condemned the questions raised by members of the Congress on the surgical strikes conducted against Pakistan by the Army.
The nation’s army was fighting in Doklam but leaders of one party preferred to meet Chinese officials. The same party questions the army on surgical strikes: PM @narendramodi
