Yet another allegation of a scam has been levelled by the BJP against the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah in Karnataka. On this occasion, the allegations are about a hurried approval for 1800 borewells in the constituency of Social Welfare Minister and Siddaramaiah’s close confidante H Anjaneya.
The implementation of the ‘Ganga Kalyan’ scheme with an allocation of 18 crores, promising borewells for SC, ST, and minorities had not followed the standard tender procedures as per BJP’s allegation.
The BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje, in her press statement, said that digging of 1800 borewells in a single constituency was in violation of mining and environment rules. To enable the implementation of this scheme, BJP MP alleged that officials were transferred and companies were given orders to dig these borewells. But only a handful borewells had been dug in reality, claimed the BJP MP.
Ordering to dig 1800 bore wells in 1 assembly constituency is violation of mining & environmental rules.18 crores has been released while work has not been completed.#BoreWellScam

Shobha Karandlaje also stated that an approval from Mines and Geology Department had not been taken before going ahead with this scheme. The minister’s wife had been involved in striking corrupt deals with companies, she claimed. She alleged that the same minister was previously involved in an SC/ST hostel scam involving 19 crores.
