After countless memes, the viral song of Priya Prakash Varrier, Manikya Malaraya Poovi seems to have run into troubled waters. It is the latest romantic song from the upcoming Malayalam movie Oru Adaar Love. Now, it might become the subject matter of an FIR.
As per reports, a group of Muslim youth has filed a complaint at the Falaknuma Police Station in Hyderabad against the actor Priya Prakash Varrier and the makers of the song for allegedly hurting sentiments of Muslims. The complaint says the song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’, when translated into English, allegedly insults the Prophet. Syed Faiyaz, ACP Falaknuma has confirmed the above.
The ACP also added that the youth had not submitted video proof and that the cops had asked them to provide the same. As a result, no FIR has been registered yet.
Much before the above, users on social media had discovered that the words of the song actually praised Khateeja, wife of Prophet Mohammad
Fact:
The viral eye winking track “Manikya malaraya poovi” is an Islamic Poem praising Khateeja RA, wife of Prophet Mohammad PBUH.Was just going through the track and its lyrics and further dig into its translation, I was in a state of shock.

Was checking the lyrics of the Odu Aadar song Manikya Malaraya (from which that video went viral). It is about Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and Khadija RA.

So what do the lyrics mean? As per lyrics sites, the lyrics roughly translate as below:
Manikya malaraya poovi,
(A girl like a pearl flower)
Mahathiyam ka khadeeja Beevi,
[Here highness khadeeja Beevi]
Makkayenna punya naatil, Vilasidum Naari, Vilasidum Naari,
(The woman who lived like a queen in the holy city of Mecca)
Maanikya malaraya puvi,
(A girl like a pearl flower)
Mahathiyam ka khadeeja Beevi,
[Here highness khadeeja Beevi]
Makkayenna punya naatil, Vilasidum Naari, Vilasidum Naari,
(The woman who lived like a queen in the holy city of Mecca)
Haathimunnabeye vilichu,
[She called khathim an Nabbiyyin Prophet Mohammed ]
Kacha vadatheen ayachu,
(Sent as in charge of her trade expedition)
Kanda neram khalbinullil, Mohamoudichu..Mohamoudichu..
(First sight of him ,Her Qalb (heart) desired him,)
Kachavaradum Kayinj, Muthrasoolulla vann,
(Blessed Rasoolulla came back after expedition)
Kaliyana aaalojanaikyaay Beevi Thunij.. Beevi Thunij..
(To marry the Prophet was the Beevi desire)
Manikya malaraya poovi,
(A girl like a pearl flower)
Mahathiyam ka khadeeja Beevi,
[Here highness khadeeja Beevi]
Makkayenna punya naatil, Vilasidum Naari, Vilasidum Naari,
(The woman who lived like a queen in the holy city of Mecca)
While an FIR has not yet been registered, it will be most interesting to see the reaction of the “pseudo-seculars” here. A movie named “Sexy Durga” was argued to be perfectly fine and in line with freedom of expression. Will this song receive similar support?
