Assam Finance Minister presented the state’s first e-budget today. The budget was streamed live on Facebook and Twitter and media persons were provided with the budget in a pen drive. The budget will also be available for download on Google Play Store. “After Andhra Pradesh, Assam has become the second state to have an e-budget, but unlike the other state, Assam budget is available in Google Play Store so that anybody can access it,” Sarma said.

In the 2018-19 Assam Budget, Himanta Biswa Sarma has allocated 91 crore rupees to the NRC, the first draft of which was published recently. He also mentioned that 61.5 km of fencing remains to be constructed along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Publication of first draft of NRC is a major event in history of Assam & India. The remaining 1.39 crore cases continue to remain under verification under overall monitoring of Hon’ble Supreme Court. I propose to allocate Re 91 Crore for carrying out of NRC works for2018-19.

The Budget also provided for the establishment of police stations in 6 tourist spots, including Kaziranga and Manas National Park, for the safety of tourists. Himanta Biswa Sarma also sanctioned 42 new Fire and Emergency stations. A Forensic Science Institute in the Directorate of Forensic Science will also be established.
Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced the allocation of Rs. 16 crore under the “Sanjeevani- Village Health Outreach Program” in 7680 villages in a phased manner. Under the scheme, ‘Pratyabhan’, 25 crores has also been allotted for the development of education in the state.
The state government also plans to set up a Tech village on a pilot basis with state of the art facilities such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things etc. The scheme will be implemented across other parts of the state as well if it proves to be successful. Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced a tie-up with Tata Trusts for Inclusive Cancer Control Programme.
