Senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Ahmed Patel recently scored another self-goal for Congress party. Ahmed Patel tweeted about the wholesale food prices with a graph showing the annual rise in wholesale food prices. While Ahmed Patel’s intention was to complain of agrarian distress, he actually showed data on how wholesale food prices have fallen since 2014.
Alarming fall in wholesale food prices since 2014 underlines the existing agrarian distress.
Farmers are being made to bear the cost of low https://t.co/7J1iQFzm60 last 4 years their prices barely increased by 3.6% pic.twitter.com/pf3LYbOj7l— Ahmed Patel (@ahmedpatel) April 23, 2018
The irony of Ahmed Patel tweeting about lower food prices was not missed by many. BJP leader and Minister of State for civil aviation Jayant Sinha grabbed it immediately.
Dear Ahmedbhai, thanks for accepting that there was high food inflation during UPA and that NDA Govt has kept food inflation on a tight leash. All this while ensuring rising farmer incomes! https://t.co/qK1FXuFZtI

Many Twitter users too took on Patel for admitting that the Modi government has ensured low wholesale food prices after coming to power.
I read somewhere that some “US returned economist” is handling Ahmed Patel’s twitter account who earlier worked with Modi 2014 campaign. Clearly that guy is still working for Modi like a Trojan horse ? https://t.co/57zOcKqXJ9

Some Twitter users tried to make Ahmed Patel understand the difference between inflation and deflation.
True face of @INCIndia
.
Mr @ahmedpatel needs to understand concept of inflation & deflation
.
Sir
Deflation hurts farmer
Low inflation hurts brokers
Farmers secured by assured MSP linked to input cost .
.
Don’t blame you
You lowered your IQ to that of your president https://t.co/5kFPL6QXs0— gab.ai/TheCol (@desertfox61I) April 25, 2018
They tried pointing out that the government ensures farmers are not hit by low food prices by MSP( Minimum Support Price), something the Modi government has made sure sees a constant increase to benefit farmers.
And this is how farmars incomes goes high .. pic.twitter.com/NWVykbLnsk

Congress has become very accustomed to self-goals in the recent times. Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha got ridiculed on Twitter for inadvertently equating Karti Chidambaram with other economic offenders. Congress President Rahul Gandhi too recently asserted that big scams cannot continue without the involvement of top government brass, indirectly admitting the Nirav Modi scam which had begun in 2011.
