Congress MLA sues a YouTube channel for spreading ‘defamatory videos’ on the Gandhi family

Reports have emerged that Senior Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has sued a YouTube channel for spreading defamatory videos against the Gandhi family.

Patil, the leader of opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative assembly has also accused the YouTube channel of promotion enmity between two communities. As we wait for more information, it is unclear as to which YouTube channel has been sued under this coordinated clampdown on free speech.

We had reported earlier how Congress was trying to stifle the voice of those who ‘dared to’ mock the Gandhi family prince, Rahul Gandhi.

Vikas Pandey had tweeted how a copyright takedown notice was issued by Indian National Congress against a video of Rahul Gandhi’s Singapore question-answer session posted on the ‘I support Narendra Modi’ YouTube channel.

Later, a second video was also issued the same notice and another video was forced to be taken down. This was the “second strike” in YouTube parlance.

It was also alleged that this was a mass deletion campaign by the Congress party and ‘I support Narendra Modi’ was not the only channel being targeted.

In fact, a handle by the name of @NKDeewan was also permanently suspended recently. Deewan a witty twitter user incidentally had achieved quite a bit of online fame in the recent past by creating hilarious spoofs of Rahul Gandhi. His suspension provoked an outcry with people using the hashtag #bringbackdeewan to demand the restoration of his account.

With Divya Spandana, Congress social media head and the Congress party clamping down on free speech while pretending to be the harbingers of the same in public discourse, the hypocrisy of the grand old party has been thoroughly exposed. Perhaps this is the only way they can protect the carefully crafted “brand new” image of Prince Rahul Gandhi who is no stranger to gaffes and often makes a fool of himself in public gatherings.
