South Asia Editor of Asia Times, Saikat Datta, shared an article recently on Twitter accusing the BJP of politicizing rapes in Assam for electoral gains. BJP MLA from Hojai, Shiladitya Dev, had suggested that illegal immigrants were responsible for the majority of crimes against women in the state.
Assam BJP politicises rising rape cases, tries to play on people’s fears for political gainhttps://t.co/MchHeXndVQ

People on Twitter weren’t too happy with the journalist accusing BJP of politicizing rape when the media along with certain sections of the political spectrum were communalizing the heinous Kathua rape case and slammed the journalist for his hypocrisy.
Compare this to liberandus anger on Unnao and Kathua rape cases. So much hypocrisy by Congi ecosystem. This is the reason why they fail to defeat Modi https://t.co/I5NAcVYOgJ

We have earlier reported on the series of rapes that has rocked the state of Assam in recent times. Unfortunately, the only time mainstream media decided it was worth outraging about was when they accuse BJP of politicization of rape.
