As the BJP looks all set to take over Karnataka and all previous predictions and analysis of our ‘secular’ ‘liberal’ brigade shatter to dust, social media has become a whirlpool of mixed emotions. While the right-wingers are busy celebrating the win and digging out old tweets of their ideological rivals, liberals are in a weepy mode. And perhaps everyone is wondering what the eventual result would be as Karnataka inches towards a nail-biting finish. We bring some select gems.
‘Activist’ cum fund collector Shehla Rashid recalled her mental state after Uttar Pradesh elections in 2017.
After the UP election, I was clinically depressed for 7 – 8 months. Now, the whole thing has lost its shock value for me.

Owner of the AAP centric blog ‘Janta Ka Reporter’, Rifat Jawed, was all humility and acceptance personified.
BJP is sweeping polls in Karnataka. Leading even in Haasan and Bhatkal, that too by huge margins. This is unprecedented performance! Must confess my inability to read this wave!

Rana Ayyub of the Gujrat Files fame, however, should give marketing lessons to all. She never misses a chance to self-promote her work.
Wrote this cover in 2012 on the radicalisation of Karnataka, perceived to be a liberal state. Things dont change overnight, this was waiting to happen https://t.co/4aBargqxlU

Congress has a very loyal fan base. Their loss apparently has nothing to do with past deeds, leadership failures, corruption or any other thing. They are only losing because the entire country is going the wrong way, or so the loyalists think.
Since morning I am seeing all these “analysts” on my TL handing out gems for INC “You should have done this or that”
How much clarity does it take to say this country is communal? And perhaps all that works is hate politics.
At least appreciate that INC didn’t resort to it?

For the loyalists, the mandate of the people does not matter, huge polling percentage does not matter, people’s rejection of regionalism and caste politics does not matter. The only thing that matters is Congress.
True! It only shows that logic, reason, truth, doesn’t matter. Social welfare schemes, kannada pride, speaking up for the rights of Dalits Muslims, nothing. Only thing illiterate masses care about is a public spectacle of Congress and Nehru/Gandhi humiliation. https://t.co/YK3Ni9tdGQ

The results are still coming in. Congress leaders have already started blaming faulty EVMs. Some are blaming the failure on the local level leadership. Hopefully, we will see many more meltdowns before the day is done.
