Congress party has been pulling out every trick in its book to regain lost power. From Rahul Gandhi, reportedly branding Congress as a ‘Muslim party’ to now, Madhya Pradesh Congress party chief Kamal Nath writing an ‘open letter’ to Lord Mahakaleshwar of Ujjain.
According to reports, he has requested the Lord in the open letter to bless people of Madhya Pradesh so they vote BJP out in the upcoming state assembly elections and end the 15 years of ‘misrule’.
The Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain is one of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingams’ of India. It is a highly revered shrine for devotees from all over the country. However, Kamal Nath’s letter to the Lord of this particular shrine seems to have another motivator. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is to start his state-wide Jan Ashirwad Yatra from this very place today.
In the letter, Kamal Nath has reportedly alleged that under the BJP rule, farmers are committing suicide, girls are being raped, youth are unemployed and corruption is on the rise. He has also added that the promises made by Shivraj Chouhan’s government have remained unfulfilled and time has come for him to pay for his misdeeds.
The Congress has reportedly announced that it will track Shivraj Chouhan’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra and follow it with a public awareness campaign to highlight the failures of the BJP government.
Jitu Patwari, working President of the state Congress has stated that his party will launch the Jan Jagaran Abhiyan (public awareness campaign) from Tarana, Ujjain constituency on July 18th and will track the route of Chouhan’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra. Patwari reportedly alleged that the state’s debt burden has gone up to 1.90 lakh crores and over 90% farmers are unable to repay their debts and committing suicide. He also added that several scams have happened during the last 15 years.
BJP President Amit Shah is scheduled to flag off the Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Ujjain today after a public rally. State BJP spokesperson Rajnish Agarwal has reportedly stated that the Congress has failed in every front, including in the role of an opposition party. He added that the Congress does not have a leader with the popularity and stature of Shivraj Chouhan and hence they are resorting to gimmicks.

The Jan Ashirwad Yatra is the third such campaign by Shivraj Chouhan. It is to cover 230 assembly constituencies and 700 public meetings are planned under the campaign.
Kamal Nath was in news last month for another letter, though it was not open as this one. In that letter to Congress President Rahul Gandhi, he had urged him to attend the death anniversary of a popular OBC leader in the state as the state ‘has a large OBC population’ and asserted that his attendance will be helpful as they are on ‘campaign mode’.
