It is a rule universally accepted that if a movie is about to be released, nothing ensures a box office hit like a controversial statement right before its release. Just say something bizarre or outrage-worthy or in certain cases, ‘take up a cause and be ashamed of being a Hindu‘ to save some of the marketing expenditure.
Latest to join the bandwagon is flop filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who perhaps hopes that making controversial statements just before the release of his new film ‘Mulk’ will ensure that at least it breaks even. As part of his pre-release press conferences last week, Sinha was asked by someone about Pakistan-backed terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen of recruiting 12 new terrorists and why are Muslims becoming terrorists.
According to Anubhav sinha Muslims have started joining terrorism because recently 2 ministers facilitated “Hindu riot accused” .
And terrorism was not started by Muslim first .

To this, Sinha counter questioned whether the person watches TV. Sinha went on to say, ‘kal aap ke desh ne do mantriyon ne danga karne wale Hinduon ko felicitate kiya’ (Yesterday, two ministers of your country felicitated Hindu rioters’).
That was all he had to respond to why Muslim youths take to terrorism. Among other things wrong with the statement is the fact that he refers to India as ‘aap ke desh’ as if he does not consider India his country. Secondly, blaming union minister for having met the ‘Hindu rioters’ for Muslim youths taking to terrorism, kind of goes against the tenet usually advocate by ‘liberals’ that terrorism has no religion. But I guess it is position on religion of terrorists changes when one is building a narrative.
The audience member then repeated his question for not having received a sensible answer, ‘why are they choosing to be terrorists’. Sinha then said, that to answer that question, one would have to study a bit of history, a bit of geography and it will take time. That he cannot answer such questions in a press conference. Sinha then again questioned back the audience member whether he knows who started terrorism. Answering his own question, Sinha said ‘aapki jaankari ke liye itna bata du ki terrorism ki shuruat musalmano ne nahin ki thi’ (For your information, let me tell you, Muslims did not start terrorism).
Perhaps the terrorism was triggered after someone spent money to watch Sinha’s Ra.One.
