The Nation’s conscience was shaken up a few days ago the heinous rape in Rewadi, Haryana. While the demands for a quick investigation gathered steam, Haryana Aam Aadmi Party leader Naveen Jaihind thought it was a good idea to politicise the heinous incident with a comment that would not be considered civilised by any stretch of the imagination.
Referring to the amount of ₹2 lakhs that was offered to the victim, he said that the BJP government has set a price of ₹2 lakhs on the victim. The amount was offered to the 19-year-old girl under the Haryana Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013, which was subsequently returned by the family.
The Haryana chief of AAP went on to say that BJP leaders should get themselves raped by 10 people and his party will pay them ₹20 lakhs as compensation. Commenting that the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government has completely failed on the women security issue, he offered ‘₹ 20 lakh to any BJP leader who gets raped by 10 people’.
‘Our chief minister Khattar has become a Dhritarashtra. The government has completely failed. ‘Kaurava’ rule going on in the state,’ Jaihind added while speaking to a journalist. He said that the family of the victim wants justice, not compensation of ₹2 lakhs.
Navin Jaihind is the convenor of Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana, in June this year party had said that he will be CM candidate of AAP in the 2019 assembly elections.
The girl was abducted from Kanina town on 12th September when she was on her way to coaching classes. She was brought to Naya Gaon 40 km away in a car where she was gang-raped in a room. Haryana police have arrested three people connected to the case, including one of the main accused. The hunt for the other 2 suspects is on, police have also offered a reward of ₹1 lakh for any info about the suspects.
