Following the allegations of stalking and sexual misbehaviour against TheWire’s consulting editor Vinod Dua, The Wire wrote to the complainant, which according to her comes with conditions.
The Wire had formed an external committee to look into the allegations after Jain pointed out that she, the complainant is not employed by the organisation and hence internal complaints committee cannot really look into the case. She says they organised external complaints committee and sent her an email last evening, which, however, came with a condition. She has to send consent and complaint within 24 hours otherwise the same would be dismissed.
Jain says she has written back to them asking for more time and a five-member jury instead of four as is the norm.
Earlier we had reported how in the video uploaded by The Wire, which was later deleted and edited before being reuploaded, Dua had brazened it out by insinuating that the charges of sexual harassment are basically to divert attention from the “real questions” that the media should be asking of the government in the run-up to the 2019 elections.
