In a first, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday evening arrested a woman terrorist from Srinagar, reports MyNation. The arrested woman terrorist has been identified as Shazia. She is married to a local Kashmiri man, identified as Salaam Kullu, a resident of Bazar Nahidkhai area. Hailing from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Shazia has been arrested by Rajbagh police.
The police confirmed that based on specific intelligence input, they apprehended her. They also furthered that “She was affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen and was on the radar of security agencies since September this year”.
Speaking to MyNation, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbag Singh said, “Yes, an arrest has been made. More details will be shared by officials of Kashmir zone”. Police officials involved in the arrest are maintaining that she has been detained for questioning. Terror angle is also being investigated.
This arrest might come as a big blow to the terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, who recently suffered a major setback as one of its top member, Touseef Ahmad Gudna, alias Abu Bakar, was reportedly arrested at the beginning of September this year.
The Jammu and Kashmir police, along with the help of CRPF, guided by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in its constant effort to curb violence in the valley, had also arrested Shakeel, son of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin. Last year in October, the NIA had arrested his other son, Syed Shahid Yusuf, who was questioned in 2011 terror funding case.
Similarly, in the month of March, in a major crackdown which incapacitated the militant organisation considerably, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had caught an over ground worker (OGW) of the terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
