ABVP wins 3 seats in Patna University students’ union, JD(U) secures 2

ABVP has won the posts of Vice President, Chief Secretary and Joint Secretary.

Amidst the tug-of-war between alliance partners JD(U) and BJP over the alleged meddling of JD(U) national vice-president Prashant Kishor in Patna University Students’ Union (PUSU) polls, the ABVP has snatched victory in the students’ union elections by winning three of the five seats, while JD(U) in its debut election has won the posts of president and treasurer, reported ANI.

According to reports, JD(U) candidate Mohit Prakash defeated ABVP’s Abhinav Kumar by 1,211 votes to become the president of PUSU. Mohit had secured 3,477 votes,  while Abhinav got 2,266 votes. Anjana Singh of ABVP has been elected as the vice-president, Manikant Mani and Raja Ravi have won the posts of chief secretary, joint secretary respectively. The JD-U also managed to win the post of treasurer which went to Kumar Satyam.

The polls had received huge importance after the BJP leaders had accused poll strategist and JD(U) national Vice-President Prashant Kishor of interfering in the elections. His car was also allegedly surrounded by students present in the campus when he had visited the University to meet its Vice-Chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh on Tuesday.

Prasant Kishore had reacted after the incident and had stated that the ABVP attack on him was because of the fear of ABVP of losing in the PUSU elections. Elections to PUSU were held to fill 29 posts and 114 candidates had contested the elections. Nearly 58.5 per cent polling was recorded during the PUSU elections.
