The trust had argued that Muslims should be allowed to offer Namaz at the disputed site since Hindus are also permitted to offer their prayers.
As per reports, the Lucknow HC cited 1993 Supreme Court judgment on the status quo of the disputed site and asserted that 67 acres of the disputed land was acquired by the government.
The Al Rehman Trust, based in Raebareli, works for the promotion of Islam. The Trust relied on the judgment of the Allahabad High Court in 2010 which had awarded Muslims one-third of the disputed site. The Court observed that the petition was merely a publicity stunt and dismissed it. The Court has also instructed the DM of Ayodhya District to ensure that the fined amount is recovered from the said trust.
