The campaigning for assembly elections in Telangana has seen the interesting situation where the different anti-BJP parties are accusing each other of being the B or C team of BJP. Congress president Rahul Gandhi and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi traded charges of the other party working on behalf of Bharatiya Janata Party.
On December 3, Rahul Gandhi tweeted that TRS is the BJP’s “B” team & KCR operates as Mr Modi’s Telangana Rubber Stamp. He also said that AIMIM is the BJP’s “C” team, and its role is to split the anti-BJP/ KCR vote. He alleged that Modi, Rao and Owaisi are one.

Rahul Gandhi repeated the claim in his speech while addressing an election rally in Gadwal in Telangana. He said that Modi and KCR have entered into a partnership in the state to ensure that the parties remain in power at the centre and the state respectively.
AIMIM and its leaders are known for their anti-BJP stand. Just yesterday Asaduddin Owaisi had claimed that ‘Allah will defeat PM Narendra Modi’. Obviously, he could not take the allegation of being the C team of BJP lightly.
Launching a counter-attack on Rahul Gandhi, Owaisi tweeted that actually, Congress party is the B team of Hindutva. Referring to the Congress president as Janeudhari, Owaisi said Rahul Gandhi thinks he is number 1 and rest who are not Savarna are impure Mlecchas. He also said that AIMIM does not owe any loyalty to those who suppress independent political identity.

Ahead of the ongoing assembly elections, the difference between Congress and AIMIM has increased. Traditionally, Congress fields weak candidates in Hyderabad, to help AIMIM candidates. But this year the party has decided to field strong candidates in the city. A few days ago, Asaduddin Owaisi had claimed that Congress party had offered him ₹25 lakh to cancel an election rally in Telangana, which he had refused.
Rahul Gandhi is not the first person to claim that Owaisi is part of BJP’s team. In October this year, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had claimed that the alliance between Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh and AIMIM in Maharashtra would prove to be the ‘B team of BJP’.
