After political murders, it is now political rapes in Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal

Several BJP workers in West Bengal have been killed by political opponents in the past.

After BJP workers succumbed to several political murders in the state of West Bengal, it has now taken a horrific turn to political rapes as a lady has been brutally gang-raped by four men in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district for being the wife of a BJP worker.

According to reports, four men gang-raped a lady on Wednesday at Khardah’s Patulia off the Kalyani Expressway as the husband of the victim is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The victim is the wife of a local temple priest, who is also BJP’s Khardah Patulia shakti pramukh. The husband filed a complaint stating that his wife was raped by four men and threatened to kill him for his political leanings.

Reportedly, the lady was coming back after dropping her son at a private tuition class when the heinous incident took place. The victim said that four masked men attacked her from behind, pressed a handkerchief on her mouth, abducted her and dragged her into an isolated under-construction building, where they stripped and gang-raped her. She said that while the criminals were assaulting her, they were also abusing her husband. They threatened that they will her husband for his political leanings, the victim said.

The priest said, “I had been with BJP for years now. I take part in party campaigns and was also their booth agent in the panchayat elections. I have faced threats before. But I never realised they will target my wife for my political leanings”.

The lady is presently undergoing treatment at a Panihati state general hospital. The West Bengal Police have already started an investigation and launched a manhunt to arrest the four criminals.

Speaking to the media, BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha said that there is no respect for women in Bengal ruled by a woman and accused the police of becoming a mute spectator. Blaming the Trinamool Congress for the incident, Sinha said that the rapists and murderers are backed by the ruling Trinamool Congress.

He added that TMC MP Tapas Pal once said that he would send his men to rape women, and held West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
