Purushartha means manhood? Dear Liberals, it’s time you rise above your mickey

The Telegraph would perhaps have not made that mistake had liberals been a little less obsessed with sexuality. Translating 'Purushartha' as manhood is frankly extremely embarrassing.

In another case of remarkable incompetence by the mainstream media, The Telegraph has claimed that Union Minister Smriti Irani questioned Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s “manhood”.

In reality, however, Irani said no such thing at all. She said that BJP President Amit Shah had reached his position through his own ‘Purushartha’ while Rahul Gandhi became the President of his party due to his mother’s blessings. The Telegraph translated ‘Purushartha’ as ‘manhood’.

The Telegraph just misinterpreted the Hindi word ‘purusharth’ which means hard work, to manhood! And anyone with minimal knowledge of Hinduism is aware that ‘Purushartha’ does not mean manhood but quite literally refers to the “objects of human pursuit” or the goals in life. In Hindu philosophy, there are four Purusharthas: Dharma (righteousness, duties), Artha (economic prosperity), Kama (pleasure, love) and Moksha (transcendence from the cycle of death and rebirth). Smriti Irani, quite clearly, means that Amit Shah became the BJP President through his own personal conduct and the dedication through which he has pursued the goals in life while Rahul Gandhi owes his position to the dynasty.

It just shows that the elitists in The Telegraph not only know the basics of Hindu but are so detached from the cultural ethos of the Indian nation that they fail spectacularly to translate even a word as well known as ‘Purushartha’.

The Telegraph, it appears, is far too engrossed with genitalia and sexual connotations, consistent with liberals at large. A certain Bollywood actress could not look beyond her vagina, Lutyens have oversimplified the complex rituals of Sabarimala and claim the traditions is just about menstruation and now we have The Telegraph which translates ‘Purushartha’ to ‘manhood’.

It’s unsurprising considering the fact that in the world of liberalism, liberation has become synonymous with sexual freedom and gender. Sexuality has become such an intrinsic part of the ideology that liberals start finding sexuality and gender identity in things that has absolutely nothing to do with it.

For instance, when the Army Chief said the circumstances were not conducive for women in combat roles, he implied that there are certain logistical issues that have to be dealt with first. But all the media could see was discrimination against women on the basis of gender.

The obsession with sexuality has reached a point where the entirety of the crux of liberal ideology is based on sexual freedom and gender identity. The reason why The Telegraph translated something as sacred as “Purushartha” as manhood is because sexuality is all they can think about. They cannot look beyond it, their very political identity depends on it.

There are consequences of such an obsession with sexuality and sexual freedom of course. There comes a point when you do not know where to draw the line. For instance, there was this journalist who argued that bestiality should be legalized as homosexuality has been. Then, of course, there are liberals who believe the demonization of paedophilia infringes upon the ‘sexuality of children’ and oppresses paedophiles. Such things are bound to happen when sexuality is the central focus of your existence. According to the liberal worldview, unless you are at liberty to have sex with goats without any consequences, you are just not free enough.

And of course, we have liberals like Ashok Swain who are using such atrocious translation to attack the Union Minister. And in the process, they are making extremely sexist and disgusting remarks.

The innuendos in Swain’s tweet is not lost on anyone. But liberal feminists will ignore it, tolerate it and even participate in it as Smriti Irani is a conservative woman who does not buy into their madness.

Such an obsession with sexuality has far more terrible consequences than a mere mistake in translation. For instance, as we have reported earlier, an eleven-year-old ‘drag-kid’ was dancing at a gay bar and men were throwing money at him. Of course, we cannot help but feel disgusted by it. But in the liberal world, the child is merely ‘expressing’ his real identity.

The Telegraph would perhaps have not made that mistake had liberals been a little less obsessed with sexuality. Translating ‘Purushartha’ as manhood is frankly extremely embarrassing.

We have documented The Telegraph’s incompetence in the past as well. In August last year, the propaganda outlet had published a report with a headline that suggested that the victim of mob lynching, a Kanwariya, was actually the perpetrator. Then, the outlet twisted Narendra Modi’s travel expenses without even comparing it adequately with Manmohan Singh’s. The outlet has spread misinformation about Smriti Irani in the past as well.
