In yet another bizarre incident reported from Chandauli village in Uttar Pradesh, the village was marred with violence as two factions of the society came face to face over a strayed goat. The two groups were seen hitting each other with sticks and pelting stones at one another. Thirteen people were reported to be injured in the altercation, amongst which two are reported to be critical.
The string of events sprang as a goat belonging to Pilu Khan entered farmer Dinanath’s field and started grazing on his wheat crop. An altercation started after Dinanath and his wife objected to the same.
After learning, that the goat belonging to Pilu Khan had damaged his crops, Dinanath along with a few others, reportedly went to Khan’s house to warn him against indulging in such a deed, as according to Dinanath, Khan intentionally left his goat to wander on Dinanath’s field.
The argument that preceded took an ugly turn and Khan along with his community members got into a brawl with Dinanath and his friends. Both the groups attacked each other with sticks and pelted stones at one another.
Drawing information about the same, CO Sadar Pradip Singh Chandel along with police force from three other stations reached the spot and took control of the situation. Judging from the status quo, Chandel converted the area into a police camp.
Though goats are known to be one the most docile living creatures, they have lately become the source for such communal tensions in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier too in 2017, a similar incident had come to light when Esakhpur village in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh was locked in a communal dispute after a goat belonging to a Hindu family had gone grazing in the field of a man named Ahmed. The incident, then, had turned so serious that there were reports of communal fights involving sharp weapons and even guns.
Similarly, in an instance in Fatehpur, communal clashes had ensued after Gangaram’s goat had strayed into the fields of Nusrat Jahan following which it was badly beaten.
Recently, reports of communal violence have emerged from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh after a goat had allegedly hit a 55-year-old man in Indira Vihar Colony. As per reports, the two communities indulged in pelting stones at each other as well.
