Cow smugglers clamp on a police official in illegal Rohingya influenced Mewat region of Haryana

Mewat region which cuts across Rajasthan and Haryana is a hot-bed of organised crime, cattle smuggling and illegal Rohingya settlement

As per a report by Navbharat Times, A canter carrying 8 calves broke a barricade near Shahpur Kheda area of Ferozepur Jhirka, in Nuh district of Haryana and also mowed down an Additional Superintendent of Police, injuring him badly. Nuh forms part of the Mewat region which cuts across Rajasthan and Haryana.

According to the report, the Police had gained the information about the canter carrying calves on the Kati Ghati road en route to Rajasthan, from an informer. At the barricade ASI Yashpal, Constable Jay Singh and other officers were stationed to stop the vehicle.

According to the report, the perpetrators also open fired at the police officials from a country-made pistol, during which the perpetrators tried to escape. Police fired back at the assailants and surrounded the vehicle. Following this, police were able to nab one of the perpetrators Mujib, who is a resident of the Punhana area of Nuh district. An FIR has been lodged at Ferozepur Jhirka police station.

“One cow smuggler has been nabbed with a country-made pistol. 8 calves have also been rescued from the canter. The absconding perpetrator will also be arrested soon” ASI Yashpal was quoted by the report. The resued cows have been sent to a cow shelter at Mewat area of Haryana.

Mewat region is notorious for cattle smuggling and organised crime and illegal Rohingya settelement. Earlier, too, many policemen were either injured or lost their lives by hands of cow smugglers. So much is the fear that at times even the police is afraid to take actions against the criminals.
