T Raja Singh, BJP’s sole MLA from the state of Telangana has demanded the removal of tennis ace Sania Mirza as the state’s brand ambassador, in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pulwama, which has claimed lives of more than 40 CRPF personnel.
In the video getting viral on social media, the leader said that state can appoint any other player who has brought fame to the state and country like VVS Laxman, Saina Nehwal or PV Sindhu, as the state’s ambassador. But, he added, in order to give Pakistan a stern reply, ‘Pakistani bahu’ or daughter-in-law of Pakistan Sania Mirza must be removed as an ambassador of state.

Praising CM KC Rao’s move to not celebrate his birthday on 17th February, in order to extend condolences to the martyrs, Raja Singh appealed that while several countries are severing ties with Pakistan, Telangana must also do same.
“When the Indian government is making every attempt to isolate Pakistan and cutting off all its relations with the country in every field, it is not appropriate to continue Sania, a Pakistani Bahu, as the state’s brand ambassador,” Singh has stated. He added that Sania Mirza ceased to be an Indian, the day she married a Pakistani-national.
Tennis player Sania Mirza had married to Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik in April 2010. She was appointed Telnagna’s state ambassador in July 2014.
Raja Singh is a firebrand Hindu leader from Telangana, and know for his tough stand on issues like Gau Raksha or cow protection. Last month, he along with police and Gau Rakshaks had intercepted a truck coming from Odisha, carrying around 60 calves. The truck was allegedly transporting cows and calves to slaughterhouses. Six people were arrested in the incident.
He was re-elected from Goshamahal Assembly, during the last year’s assembly elections. He had hit headlines recently when he had declared that he will not take oath in front of pro-tem Speaker of the Telangana assembly Mumtaz Ahmed Khan belonging to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or AIMIM.
