The father of Adil Ahmad Dar, the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist who carried out the ghastly Pulwama attack on CRPF personnel, is again in the news for trying to justify his son’s evil deed of murdering the CRPF soldiers. The Pulwama terrorist’s father defended his son’s act by asserting that this is the ‘struggle for freedom’.

From claiming that he had no idea about his son’s whereabouts to acknowledging that he had joined the terror ranks, the slain terrorist’s father has now resorted to rationalise his son deeds, exonerating him of any culpability by trying to contextualise his son’s gruesome act of killing 40 soldiers. He has also expressed a ‘sorry’ for the relatives of those killed, but in the same breath, claims that he also ‘understands’ what his son did.
In an interview to The Independent, Gulam Dar also says he is proud of his son. He adds that he is proud in the sense that whatever he did in joining terrorism, he did it for his people.
Speaking to Indian media right after the Pulwama attck, Ghulam Dar had stated that he had no idea that his son was involved in terrorist activities. But immediately later, Gulam Dar and his wife had stated to Reuters that their son Adil was ‘angry’ after being insulted and beaten by Indian soldiers and had turned towards terrorist activities.
Right after his son blew himself up, a video was released by the Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammad in which the terrorist was seen calling for Jihad against ‘non-believers’ and ‘cow piss drinkers’. The hatred for Hindus in the video was too pronounced to be ignored. Perhaps, his father ‘understands’ and ‘legitimises’ this hatred against Hindus for which his son laid down his life and killed 40 CRPF personnel.
However, the whitewashing and rationalisation are not limited to the parents of the terrorist alone.
As a mother, its hard to fathom how a father can rationalize his sons decision to become a fidayeen. But young men in Kashmir are agitated & angry. GoIs muscular approach to Kashmir is imprudent & injudicious. Beyond a point we need to look inwards & introspect what went wrong. https://t.co/R7fi0AJdxH

The former Chief Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, who was until recently a part of an alliance with the BJP government has also attempted to justify the horrible atrocity committed by terrorist Ahmad Dar and pinned the blame on the government for its ‘muscular approach’ responsible for gullible youths in the Valley to take up arms.
Mehbooba Mufti has long been an apologist for terrorists and stone pelters in the valley. She also bats for Kashmiri separatists. On the issue of the government detaining Jamat-e-Islami and other separatist leaders, she had opposed the government too.
Recently, speaking on the issue of article 35A, she had stated that if the central government tries to tamper with the article 35A, they will be playing with fire and claimed that the people of Kashmir might abandon the Indian tricolor and pick up a different flag.
