Former Sessions Judge in Anantnag and National Conference (NC) in charge of Kokernag Assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir Syed Tauqeer has been charged by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for inciting violence against Forest Officials while addressing locals in Kokernag area.
A video has been doing rounds recently in which Tauqeer is reportedly seen telling people to chop off the limbs of forest officials if they come to block a road there. “Somebody was whispering in my ear that forest people are blocking a road here. You have my go-ahead that if anybody approaches, you chop-off their limbs and then I will manage the rest. You start (using your) rights over the forest from now on. There are few months to government formation, tell them that NC’s nominated candidate has given us the permission,” said Tauqeer.
An FIR has been lodged again Tauqeer by the police under sections 116, 506 and 153 of the Ranbir Penal Code at Police Station Larnoo. Tauqeer had taken voluntary retirement and had joined the National Conference on March 17. The NC has distanced itself from Tauqeer’s statements which are absolutely shocking coming from a former judge. The Party posted a statement on Twitter saying that it does not endorse Tauqeer’s remarks.

The statement said that Tauqeer has been advised to exercise more care when choosing words and that this was a momentary lapse which happened in the heat of the moment. A few of days ago another NC leader Javed Ahmed Rana had threatened to put PM Modi behind the bars if he came to power calling the Prime Minister a murderer of humanity.
