West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has again spewed venom against Prime Minister Modi by mounting personal attacks on him. Speaking at a public rally in Cooch Behar, Mamata said that in India large families having people of from different religious stay together but PM Modi would not know that as he does not have a family of his own and he does not consider the people of the country as his family.

While attacking Modi, the West Bengal CM said that in India large families consisting of people from different religions stay together, which is a rather strange comment. In India, large families are either joint families, or families having multiple wives and children of the same person, and such families usually follow the same religion. It is rare to find large families with persons from different religions in India, unlike what Mamata Banerjee is claiming.
This is not the first time that Mamata has dragged Modi’s family in their political rivalry. She had earlier accused Modi of neglecting his estranged wife. Calling Modi a liar she had questioned as to how Modi would take care of the people while he neglected his wife.
Opposition leaders give a tough competition to each other when comes to abusing Modi and his family. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, in response to being to addressed as “father of Lokesh” by PM Modi (Lokesh is Naidu’s son), had mocked Modi for not having a son or a family. He had accused Modi of having no respect for family system.
Last year, senior Congress leader Raj Babbar crossed all limits of decency after he took a jibe at the age of Modi’s mother. Comparing the falling value of rupee against Dollar with the age of Modi’s mother, Babbar had commented that the Rupee is falling so low that it is moving close to the age of Modi’s mother.
Another Congress leader Vilasrso Muttemwar giving a tough competition to Babbar’s remark went a step further to attack PM Modi and commented that no one knew who Modi’s father was.
It has become a norm for the opposition leaders to resort to personal attacks on PM Modi probably because of their failure to come up with something substantial to confront him with.
