The unfortunate incident of death of twenty-four-year-old Tabrez Ansari in a mob attack in Jharkhand on suspicion of theft has given rise to new controversies including mainstream media propagating unverified and fake claims regarding the nature of the death of victim’s father.
Soon after Tabrez Ansari’s death hit the news, theories were floated that his father Maskoor Ansari, was also killed in the similar manner as his son Tabrez Ansari.
In one of its report, the Times of India had claimed that Maskoor Ansari, the father of Tabrez Ansari, was also killed in a similar way almost 15 years ago. The report said that Maskoor was caught by a mob while allegedly committing theft in Bagbera area of Jamshedpur and lynched.
However, Marsood Alam, Tabrez Ansari’s uncle has refuted any such claims regarding the lynching of Tabrez’s father Maskoor. Reacting to media reports regarding Maskoor’s death, Marsood Alam said that he was murdered over a dispute with his friends and the family found Maskoor’s body only after a week later. Marsood Alam categorically rejected any such reports.
