Top Kerala police officers honey-trapped along with minister Kadakampally Surendran

Warning messages have been circulating in police WhatsApp groups about the woman

Top Kerala police officers were involved in a honeytrap case along with Devaswom board minister Kadakampally Surendran, as per a report by Janmabhumi. The incident came to light when the women threatened to commit suicide in a Facebook post alleging that a police officer had raped her promising marriage.

The woman had claimed that no action has been taken against the officer despite approaching the Chief Minister’s office. Following this, the DGP intervened and got her to delete the post. Her statement was also recorded. She claimed that the SI had taken her to various hotels in Thiruvananthapuram and raped her on the pretext of marriage. A case was then filed against Thumba police station sub-inspector Sumesh Lal.

Investigations have revealed that through Facebook the woman had befriended several other police officers as well. Her account was set up in the name of a woman official at Kerala University. However, the police have found this to be a fake identity. The police have also sought to examine her phone call records.

Reportedly after the complaint was filed, warning messages have been circulating in police WhatsApp groups. The message says that the SIs of Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram have lost big money after falling into a honeytrap. The message warned the policemen to exercise caution.

The message read: “Dear friends in the police, a lady with the Facebook ID **** is striking friendship with policemen, particularly of SI rank. She feigns love and later blackmails the cops. Many officers have lost lakhs of rupees. The woman is a habitual offender who targets the cops. Be careful”.

Sources say that the woman first befriends on Facebook, then they further progress to talking over the phone. The woman would record the conversations and use it to blackmail the officer.

Meanwhile, JanamTV had released some audio tapes of the woman talking to an officer. In the audio tapes, Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran’s name was mentioned.

In the audio tapes, the woman said that she had talked about filing the case against SI Sumesh Lal to the Minister. On hearing this, the minister had allegedly asked her not to mention his name while filing the complaint. The woman had claimed that Surendran was ready to give her 10 or 15 Lakhs to ensure this.

It was reported a few days ago that the Army intelligence has issued an advisory to army personnel against an Instagram profile ‘Oyesomya’ who is suspected of being an enemy spy trying to target army officers and special forces’ troops.
