Amidst a spate of sexual offence related incidents coming to fore in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government has planned a month-long security awareness campaign for schoolgirls in the state to educate them about the measures to be adopted to ensure their safety and security. District Magistrate and district police chiefs will supervise the campaign.
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered to strengthen the security of women and girls in the state and directed the authorities to implement stringent measures to this end. Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey said in a letter to District Magistrates and district police officials, “In regard to this order by CM, a month-long campaign will be commenced from July 1 to make schools aware about security (of girl students).”
In addition to this, experts on child and women welfare will also accompany police personnel to impart security awareness training among schoolgirls.
Lately, a number of sexual crimes against minor girls have surfaced in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Recently, the case of brutal murder of a 2.5-year-old girl in UP’s Aligarh shook the country to its core. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had then directed the police personnel to take swift action against perpetrators of such ghastly crimes in their respective regions by reviving anti-Romeo squads and ensuring speedy justice for the victims.
