Budget 2019: Central focus of all programmes of the Narendra Modi government is “Gaon, Garib and Kisan”

Electricity and clean cooking fuel will be provided to every single family by 2022, except the unwilling families

In her maiden budget speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the central focus of all programmes of the Narendra Modi government is “Gaon, Garib and Kisan”. She further said that electricity and clean cooking fuel will be provided to every single family, except the unwilling, by 2022, 75th year of independence.

“By 2022, I would like to assure the nation that every single rural family, except those who are unwilling to take the connection, will have electricity and clean cooking facility,” said Finance Minister.

Nirmala Sitharaman added that 1.5 crore rural homes have been completed under PMAY phase I till now and 1.95 crores more houses to be provided to eligible beneficiaries in phase 2 now by 2022.

Emphasising on the early completion of projects under NDA government, Nirmala Sitharaman said that completion of houses under PMAY took 314 days in 2017 but now it only takes just 114 days.
