A police constable was arrested on Friday for allegedly filming the female devotees taking bath at a camp during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. The constable named Tariq Ahmed was serving in the 19th battalion of the Indian Reserve Police.
A case has been registered against the accused constable under section 354 (intent to outrage the modesty of women) of the Ranbir Penal Code at Trikuta Nagar police station. However, he was released on bail later. As per the information provided by the police, Constable Ahmed had used his mobile phone to record the video of the women taking bath inside the bathroom of a railway station camp on the night of Wednesday.
He was caught after the women raised alarm and later handed him over to the police. The police formally arrested him the day before yesterday and also seized his mobile.
The Amarnath Yatra that was flagged off on July 1 is laced with tight security arrangements. Security was prepped up at the yatra after the inputs of a possible terror attack by the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad. 40,000 security personnel have been deployed by the Centre to guard the pilgrims.
