Finally, after 45 games it has been decided which are the two teams placed at number one and number two in the points table of Cricket World Cup 2019. India will play New Zealand at Old Trafford on Tuesday while Australia will take on arch-rivals England at Edgbaston on Thursday.
The ICC has one reserve day for both the semi-finals and the final. In case there is no cricket over two days in the semis, then the fate of the two teams will be decided on their position in the league stage.
The rules for semi-finals are pretty simple and easy in case of a tie or wash out.
In the case of rain, there are reserve days for both the semi-finals and the final.
Let’s talk about semis first, in the case of a tie; there is super overrule which will decide the fate of the match. However, in case of no play on either day (due to bad weather), the team with more points will qualify for the finals. In case of rain interruption, the match will not restart on the next day; it will continue from the same position it was stopped.
India v New Zealand
In case of rain on both days, and no play possible, India will reach the Finals because India has 15 points while New Zealand has just 11.
Weather condition: It is predicted to be a wet afternoon on Tuesday at Manchester. Chances of showers expected with a lot of interruption during the match, and maybe it could end in 2 days. The second day too will have some patches of rain.
Australia v England
In case of rain on both days, and no play possible, Australia will reach the Finals because Australia has 14 points while England has 12 in the points table.
Weather Condition: Slight drizzle is predicted at Birmingham on Thursday and Friday, but the conditions over there will be not as adverse as it will be in Manchester. The match will over in 2 days but will as of now no chance of a washout.
It depends on weather conditions, and the Super Over will take place on the scheduled day of the match (or reserve day if it is utilized for the semis or final).
In normal circumstances, it shall start 10 minutes after the conclusion of the match. Each team will be allowed to have one review during the Super Over.
FINALS
If both the days are washed out, then the two teams will share the trophy. If it ends in a tie, then there will be a super over to decide the winner.
