Delhi based doctor Upendra Kaul has been summoned by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) in connection with their ongoing investigation related to terror funding case in Kashmir.
According to Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul, Dr Upendra Kaul, who is a close associate of terrorist Yasin Malik and allegedly his doctor, has been asked to appear before them in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case of 2017.

Interestingly, he was invited by NDTV recently and portrayed (wrongly) as the representative of Kashmiri Pandits. pic.twitter.com/9gNHmuXkSf

After the news of the summon came, many people tried to suggest that the doctor was summoned for his comments against the govt decision to abrogate Article 370. But that is not true, as the summon is related to a terror finance case being probed by NIA.
Noted journalist Rahul Pandita confirmed the same and clarified that Kaul has not been summoned by the NIA for his comments over the abrogation of Article 370 as claimed by some pro-Pakistan separatists and their media ecosystem in the country.

Some sections of media are spreading misinformation that Kaul has been summoned after he had been critical of the Centre’s decision to revoke special status.
In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had registered a case against Pakistan-based terrorists and sympathisers including 7 top separatists, 2 hawala conduits and some stone pelters in the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case of 2017.
The NIA had on April 2019 had arrested the infamous JKLF chief Yasin Malik in custody for 12 days in the terror funding case. As per NIA sources, Yasin Malik had then admitted that he was instrumental in bringing together the disparate factions of Hurriyat Conference and formed the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), which spearheaded the violent agitations in 2016 in Kashmir Valley, by issuing “Protest Calendars” leading to economic shutdown for over four months.
Interestingly, Upendra Kaul, known to be to close to Yasin Bhatkal was recently found in a controversy after he had posed as a Kashmiri Pandit in an NDTV propaganda show. Disgruntled about the Narendra Modi government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, controversial news channel NDTV seems to be had telecasted a show discrediting Modi government’s decision.
In the show, NDTV anchor Sreenivasan Jain and Dr Upendra Kaul had tried to push a narrative that Kashmiri Pandit community is unhappy about the scrapping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Upendra Kaul had featured in the show, spoke on behalf of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
As the show progressed, Kaul expressed his views on abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state, terming it as a ‘very bad moment’. Kaul with his entitled views went on to make shocking remarks, claiming that the events of genocide and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits were itself debatable and tried to falsely insinuate that some of Kashmiri Pandits perceived the scrapping of Article 370 as a ‘revenge’ to what happened in 1990.
