Recently, Congress veteran Jairam Ramesh had begrudgingly admitted mistakes made by his party by blindly ridiculing PM Modi. He said that demonising PM Modi all the time is not going to help Congress and Modi’s governance model is not an “all negative story”. Another Congress leader AM Singhvi had also come out in support of Ramesh’s statement saying that good decisions by PM Midi ought to be applauded.
Echoing Jairam Ramesh’s sentiments, Shashi Tharoor had claimed that he has always been a proponent of praising PM Modi for his right policy decisions. Tharoor stated that lauding PM Modi for correct decisions will also add to the credibility of the opposition. “As you know, I have argued for six years now that Narendra Modi should be praised whenever he says or does the right thing, which would add credibility to our criticisms whenever he errs. I welcome others in opposition coming around to a view for which I was excoriated at the time,” Tharoor said.
However, these remarks by Tharoor have drawn state party unit president’s ire as he proceeded to assert that Shashi Tharoor will be asked to explain his comments regarding PM Modi. Along with Ramachandran, leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala, former Vattiyoorkavu MLA K. Muraleedharan, who was elected in the recent Lok Sabha polls and renounced the seat, and Congress-led United Democratic Front convener Benny Behanan have openly frowned at Tharoor’s statement.
Earlier, Congress in Kerala had expelled former MP from Kannur, AP Abdullakutty from the party for speaking positively about PM Modi.
