Kerala Congress MP Hibi Eden’s wife Anna Eden makes controversial remark: “Fate is like rape, if you can’t resist, then enjoy it”

The post was uploaded on Monday night and it was taken down on Tuesday morning after facing severe flak from people on social media.

Kerala Congress MP Hibi Eden’s wife Anna Linda Eden has stoked a massive controversy with her callous remarks trivialising rape. In a Facebook post which she has deleted now, Anna Eden, wrote, “Fate is like rape, if you can’t resist it then try to enjoy it”, along with two videos showing water-logging in front of their house in Kochi and that of her husband Hibi Eden having an icecream.

However, her crass attempt to draw an analogy between flood-like situation outside her house and rape touched off widespread criticism on social media websites for the choice of words and poor analogy used by the Kerala based journalist.

The post was uploaded on Monday night and it was taken down on Tuesday morning after facing severe flak from people on social media.

An apology was subsequently issued by Anna Linda Eden stating that she is apologetic for hurting the sentiments of any woman who might have had faced the trauma of rape and abuse. In an apology post uploaded on Facebook, Eden said that she is sorry for the inappropriate choice of words and analogy made by her in her now deleted post.

A similar comment on rape was allegedly made by actor Sunny Leone in 2013. She had purportedly tweeted, “Rape is not a crime, it is surprise sex!”. Several Twitter users retweeted the post before it was taken down by the former Bigg Boss contestant and former pornstar. She had also gotten embroiled in a legal battle with foulmouthed small-time actor Kamaal R Khan. She later denied having posted any such tweet on her Twitter page.
