West Bengal: TMC worker injured after being beaten up by fellow worker for chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’

'Jai Shree Ram', ordinarily a chant praising Lord Ram, has also turned into a chant of political defiance in West Bengal. There are several times in the past when Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee got irked because people chanted Jai Shree Ram as a mark of political defiance against her.

In another shocking incident that has come to light, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker Ranjit Mondol was injured after being beaten up by fellow TMC worker for chanting Jai Shree Ram. The brutal incident took place in Barishat, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, reported ANI.

According to the complaint filed by Ranjit Mondol, he was having a conversation with fellow party workers and in the process of the conversation he chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’.

According. to his complaint, it is at this point that another TMC party worker called Paroi got furious and thrashed him.

Later, Ranjit Mondol was rushed to the hospital where he received treatment and first aid.

No arrests have been made in the case so far and the police have not issued a statement on the matter yet.

In a shocking incident back in May 2019, 10 people were arrested for merely chanting Jai Shree Ram at Mamata Banerjee. In June 2019, during a BJP victory march after the spectacular performance in Lok Sabha Elections 2019, a BJP worker was beaten up mercilessly for chanting Jai Shree Ram, allegedly, by TMC workers and the town was on boil after the incident.

In another shocking incident, a class 7 student from Bengal was attacked by his teacher for chanting Jai Shree Ram. The teacher had then given a diktat to his students to not chant Jai Shree Ram whether in or outside the premises of the school. A BJP worker was also stabbed to death for chanting Jai Shree Ram in West Bengal and the wife had alleged that her husband was murdered by TMC workers.
