On Sunday, Nazeer had attended a pro-CAA public meeting in Idukki district’s Nedumkandam. After the meeting, Nazeer had reportedly stopped neat a Mosque to offer Namaz there. While offering Namaz, Nazeer was attacked by a group of Student Democratic Party of India, (SDPI) activists.
As per reports, the SDPI goons kicked, thrashed and hit Nazeer with furniture for over 15 minutes, till the Imam of the Mosque intervened and rescued him. BJP workers have alleged that the SDPI has announced that anyone supporting the CAA will not be ‘allowed to live’. The police have registered a case but are yet to identify the attackers.
It is notable here that PFI was allegedly behind many anti-CAA riots in the country. The UP police chief had proposed the government to ban the radical outfit after a series of violent riots in the state.
The BJP is running an awareness and outreach campaign over CAA from 2 to 15 January. All BJP leaders are holding rallies and meetings across the country to educate the people over the new citizenship Act and to fight the opposition’s misinformation campaign.
SDPI is the student branch of PFI, a radical Islamic outfit under investigation for love jihad cases, murders and extremist activities.
Political violence and attack on opposition leader is fast becoming a norm in Communist Kerala. Recently, Karnataka CM Yediyurappa’s convoy was attacked by communist goons in Kannur.
