The political drama in Madhya Pradesh has been speeding in a breakneck speed since yesterday. While it had been speculated for long that Jyotiraditya Scindia is ‘unhappy’ and may take a major step soon, no one was really prepared when yesterday news started unravelling that Scindia has actually done it.
While news trickled in that several Congress MLAs are hoarded up in a resort outside Bengaluru in Karnataka, a BJP ruled state, Congress general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia had gone incommunicado.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh, when questioned by the media, chose to feign ignorance. He actually stated that Scindia is ‘unreachable’ because he has Swine Flu.
In reality, Jyotiraditya Scindia had tendered his resignation on March 9. It was reported that Scindia had spoken to Sonia Gandhi on March 9. Last night, MP CM Kamal Nath had called up a hurried cabinet meeting and soon after it was reported that the entire cabinet has resigned.
This morning, Scindia first arrived at PM Modi’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg with Home Minister Amit Shah. Soon after, Scindia shared his resignation letter addressed to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.
It is not clear why Digvijay Singh said Scindia has ‘Swine Flu’. Maybe it was what Scindia had told him to avoid talking to him. We can only speculate.
