Parag Desai died of brain haemorrhage, not dog bite, hospital says it was told he fell down after being chased by street dogs

Parag Desai was the Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group. He passed away on Sunday (22nd October) at the age of 49.

On Monday (23rd October), the Shalby Multi-speciality Hospitals in Ahmedabad clarified that Wagh Bakri Tea Group’s Director Parag Desai did not die of a dog bite but brain haemorrhage.

“The press note states that the patient was brought to the emergency department of Shalby Hospitals at SG highway by around 6pm. He was unconscious and not responding,” the hospital announced.

“It was stated that the patient fell down after being chased by dogs but apparently there were no dog bite marks on his body. A CT scan revealed acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion,” it further added.

Dr. Nishita Shukla, Group COO of Shalby Hospitals, stated, “The patient was admitted to the ICU and was advised to be kept under observation and treatment for 72 hours. The patient was discharged on the request of his relatives.”

Who was Parag Desai

Parag Desai was the Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group. He passed away on Sunday (22nd October) at the age of 49. He is now survived by his wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha.

The deceased Parag Desai was the son of Rasesh Desai, the Managing Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group. Desai, who had been in the business for almost 30 years, was in charge of the company’s sales, marketing, and export departments.

Parag Desai, a significant industry leader, and prolific tea taster, was also a member of the Federation of Indian Industry (CII), among other organisations.

Desai is described as “an expert tea taster and evaluator” on the Wagh Bakri website. He also had an MBA from Long Island University in the United States, according to the report.
