The Dispur Police arrested a sexual predator who is accused of harassing a woman both sexually and mentally, police said on Tuesday (23rd July). The accused offender has been identified as Shahid Ali, a resident of Barpeta, Assam. According to the Police, the sexual predator trapped his victims by introducing himself as unmarried and then pressuring women to have sexual intercourse with him. However, the Police found out that Ali is married and is the father of two children.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim, Police apprehended him from the Supermarket area of Guwahati after an extensive investigation.
According to the police, Ali had introduced himself as an unmarried man to the victim who is a resident of Dibrugarh. Later he trapped the woman and somehow acquired her objectionable videos and started blackmailing her. He extorted money from her by blackmailing.
According to reports, an organisation named Sanatani Bhumiputra Mancha assisted the Police in arresting the sexual predator, Shahid Ali. The Police have stated that further legal action is underway.

Earlier this week, on 20th July, the Bengaluru Police arrested an accused named Anwar Hussain who was wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Karnataka.
The wanted accused identified as Anwar Hussain is a resident of Hailakandi district in Assam. According to reports, after committing the heinous crime, he was hiding in Guwahati.
Following the assault, which took place in Bengaluru, a case (505/24) was registered at the Hal Police Station. The Police had launched a search operation to locate and nab the accused. Finally, on Saturday (20th July), they detained Anwar Hussain from the Last Gate locality of Guwahati.
Meanwhile, last month, the Police busted a sex racket in Dhubri and arrested six women and five men. The arrested accused were involved in running the sex racket at Panbari by the NH 17 under Gauripur Police Station of Dhubri district.
The illicit sex racket was being operated from a house that belonged to Zail Hoque and Sapiar Rahman. However, a source said that it was allegedly being managed by Rahman’s wife Zainab Bibi.
According to the villagers, they had been observing the running of sex rackets for quite a long time, and whenever they protested against it neither Zail Hoque nor Sapiar Rahman paid any heed to it.
A police source said that aggrieved villagers assembled around the house where the illicit flesh trade was going on. They completely ransacked the house, razed it to the ground, and apprehended all the accused.
