The protestors, who were earlier demanding revocation of quota and now seeking justice for the 200 odd-men who died in the previous agitation, have demanded resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to a policeman, they have turned Dhaka into a battleground and torched cars and bikes outside the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) premises.

OpIndia had reported how Islamists have infiltrated the protests and are now eyeing to turn the country bankrupt.

The protestors, belonging to the group ‘Students against Discrimination’ have vowed civil disobedience and non-cooperation with the Bangladeshi government.

On the contrary, Awami League’s general secretary Obaidul Quader had called upon party members and supporters to show solidarity with the government.

Arson attacks, gunfire, and cocktail explosions were reported in various districts of Bangladesh.

In order to pacify the situation, the government has reportedly shut down mobile data across the country.

The Bangladesh High Court has ruled that all citizens can participate in peaceful protests and directed the police to abide by legal principles.
