Kangana Ranaut faces threats for speaking about rapes and murders during ‘farmers’ protests, BJP distances itself saying they don’t reflect the party’s stance

In an official statement, the BJP said, "The statement made by BJP MP Ms Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers' protest does not reflect the party's stance. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with her remarks."

Even as actor Kangana Ranaut faces threats from anti-social elements for dropping truth bombs about the farmers’ protests, her party, BJP, distanced itself from the actor’s comments. The party added that she is not authorised to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party. It also asked Kangana to refrain from making such statements in the future.

In an official statement, the BJP said, “The statement made by BJP MP Ms Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers’ protest does not reflect the party’s stance. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with her remarks.”

The statement added, “Ms Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party and has not been given permission to do so. The BJP has directed Ms Ranaut to refrain from making such statements in the future.”

It is pertinent to note that the development comes at a time when the actor-turned-politician is facing multiple threats for her recent remarks on the Farmer protest. Notably, during one of the promotion events for her upcoming movie, Emergency, Kangana Ranaut lauded the Union government for its actions during the farmer protest.

She argued that the farmers’ protest could have led to a Bangladesh-like crisis in India if the leadership (Modi government) was not decisive and strong. Strikingly, alleged farmer leader Rakesh Tikait had recently threatened the same.

Incidentally, she has also shared a video of this interaction on her official X handle. In the video, Kangana Ranaut could be heard saying, “What happened in Bangladesh, it could have easily happened here too.”

Further in the video, she said, “bodies were seen hanging and rapes were taking place”, while referring to criminal incidents that were widely reported during the first farmers’ protest.

Kangana also slammed vested interests and “foreign powers” for the continuation of the protests even when the government rolled back the three farmer laws – the major demand of the protesting farmers.

She said, “There is a conspiracy by foreign powers and these filmy people thrive on it. They don’t care if the country goes to the dogs.”

However, the actor soon started getting multiple threats for speaking up on the farmer’s protest as well as for her upcoming movie, Emergency. While some alleged ‘influencers’ threatened that she would meet an Indira Gandhi-like fate, others issued threats of physically assaulting her or filing a defamation case. Some of the X users also called for another Chandigarh Airport incident where an on-duty female CISF constable slapped her for criticising farmers’ protest.

Tagging Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, an X user demanded a defamation case against Kangana Ranaut.

A journalist shared a video pointing out that some ‘singers’ in Punjab have recorded songs calling for physical violence against Kangana Ranaut.

Additionally, a video is also doing rounds on social media in which a Punjabi influencer could be heard threatening Kangana.

In the video, he is heard saying, “History cannot be changed. If they portray Sikhs as terrorists in the film, fir yaad rakhna jiska movie kar rahi hai uska kya scene hua tha. Remember who Satwant Singh and Beant Singh were. Jo hume ungli karte hai, vo ungli hi chatka dete hai hum… Agar hum sar katwa sakte hai toh sar kaat bhi sakte hai.”

The controversial ‘actor’ and Former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan can also be seen in the video.

Another man in the video says, “Aap ye picture release karte ho toh sardaaron ne aapko chappal maarni hai. Laafa toh aapne kha liya. I’m a very proud Indian. If I spot you anywhere in my country and in my Maharashtra, I’m saying this, not just as a Sikh and a proud Marathi, but all my Hindu, Christian and Muslim brothers will also welcome you with chappals.”

Reacting to the threats, Kangana Ranaut urged Maharashtra, Himachal and Punjab Police to take action in this matter.

Apart from this, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami has demanded a ban on her film, Emergency alleging that it portrays the character of Sikhs in the wrong way.
