Uttar Pradesh: Arshad throws hot dal on wife’s face, gives instant Triple Talaq for praising PM Modi, CM Yogi for development work in Ayodhya

According to the victim, her husband threw a bowl of hot dal on her face and pronounced triple talaq for praising PM Modi, Yogi Adityanath for developmental work in Ayodhya.

A shocking case has come to light from the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh. A Muslim man named Arshad along with his family members have been booked for assaulting his wife and giving her instant triple talaq for praising PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.

According to the victim’s complaint, when she praised PM Modi and CM Yogi for the development work in Ayodhya, it made her husband angry who then threatened her with dire consequences. He brutally assaulted her before giving her instant triple talaq. Her in-laws also assaulted her and they along with her husband poured hot dal on her face, and attempted to strangulate her.

The victim, identified as Maryam, is originally a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich. She married Arshad, who lives with his family in Ayodhya, in December last year. Based on Maryam’s complaint, the Police filed a case against eight persons, including her husband Arshad, mother-in-law Raisha, father-in-law Islam, sister-in-law Kulsum, brother-in-law Faran and Shafaq, and sister-in-law Simran.

According to the complaint, she hails from a village. When she visited Ayodhya City, she was impressed by the development work and the beautification of Ayodhya Dham, especially ‘Ram Ki Paidi’, Kanak Bhawan, and the ghats of the Saryu River.

However, after returning home, she shared her thoughts with Arshad and praised PM Modi and CM Yogi for the development works, which made her husband angry. Arshad threatened her with dire consequences at home. He even choked her throat with the intention to kill her.

According to reports, her husband also brutally assaulted her and the in-laws also joined him in the process. After the brutal assault, hot dal was poured on her face as she was lying on the floor in a semi-conscious condition. During the attack, the victim sustained serious burn injuries. It is said that the accused husband also hurled abuses and made derogatory remarks against CM Yogi and PM Modi.

According to the complainant, she was also kicked out of the house and asked to return to her parents’ house in Bahraich.

In a video making rounds, Maryam said, “I am a resident of Mohalla Sarai, Thana Jarwal Road in Bahraich. On December 13, 2023, I was married to Arshad, son of Islam, a resident of Mohalla Delhi Darwaza in Kotwali Nagar, Ayodhya. My father got me married with the consent of both parties and by spending more than his means.”

She added, “After the marriage when I went out in the city, I liked the roads of Ayodhya Dham, the beautification, the development, and the atmosphere there. On this, I praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in front of my husband.”

The victim’s family alleged that initially they went to the Bahraich and Ayodhya Police but they ignored her complaint. After this, Maryam’s father, Mohammad Sharif, complained on the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s portal and urged for the safety of her daughter and justice in this case.

Jarwal Road Police Station Incharge Inspector (SHO) Brijraj Prasad said that the husband abused the Chief Minister, and the Prime Minister, and gave her divorce by pronouncing “talaq, talaq, talaq” (instant triple talaq).

The Police stated that the case was filed under the Assault, abuse, threat, and Dowry Prohibition Act and the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act.
