UP: Rohit stabbed to death by Faizan, Sameer, Farukh and Tarun for refusing to provide a plastic bag in Meerut, three arrested

Describing the details of the incident, the victim’s brother Ravi said that on Sunday, Rohit was making tea at his father’s shop when accused Farukh, his younger brother Sameer aka Gulab, Faizan alias Dubaj, Tarun and two unidentified youths attacked Rohit with knives and other sharp weapons.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, a man named Rohit who ran a tea stall was brutally attacked on 4th August (Sunday), by Faizan, Sameer, Farukh, Tarun and others for not giving a polythene bag to them. The shocking incident unfolded near Kila-Parikshitgarh Stand under the Mawana Police Station precinct. The six attackers stabbed knife into Rohit’s neck, face and back. The deceased victim worked at a registry office and on Sunday he went to his father Vinod Sain’s tea stall. The police have arrested three attackers so far while efforts are on to arrest the rest.

On Sunday afternoon, the accused persons arrived on their motorcycles and asked Rohit to give them a polythene bag, however, the victim refused to do so saying that he did not have it. Following this, an argument erupted between the victim and the accused attackers. Subsequently, the attackers stabbed the victim in his face, neck and back with a knife. The bloodied victim fell to the ground and started screaming in pain. Soon after, the locals gathered and caught hold of the accused Tarun, a resident of Ataura.

Meanwhile, the victim’s brother Ravi and others rushed him to the hospital. The severely wounded victim repeatedly asked for water and kept saying that it was not his fault and he only had refused a plastic bag. The victim succumbed to his wounds.

Describing the details of the incident, the victim’s brother Ravi said that on Sunday, Rohit was making tea at his father’s shop when accused Farukh, his younger brother Sameer aka Gulab, Faizan alias Dubaj, Tarun and two unidentified youths attacked Rohit with knives and other sharp weapons. Ravi said that he was standing at some distance with his friends. He added that hearing Rohit’s screams he along with others rushed towards the attackers to catch them, however, three of the accused entered a nearby tailor’s shop, changed clothes and managed to escape. The rest of the accused youths entered Dr. Farahim’s shop who gave shelter to these boys and closed the shop’s doors. He also helped these youths escape.

The deceased victim’s brother filed a complaint at Mawana Police Station in Meerut against accused Faizan, Sameer, Farukh and Tarun. The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections. Since the horrifying murder of the victim, tension prevails in the locality.

The family of the deceased and several locals took out a protest outside Mawana Police Station and jammed the road. Upon receiving information about this, SP Crime, Mawana Circle Officer, and SDM arrived at the spot along with the police force from neighbouring four police stations to calm the situation. The accused persons other than Tarun are said to be Boharpur residents.

Speaking about the action taken in the matter, SP Avnish Kumar said that five teams have been deployed to arrest the accused persons. He added that one of the accused Sameer alias Gulab has been arrested from Boharpur in Meerut. The officer said that Sameer tried to snatch a pistol from the police, and during this, he got shot in the leg. Currently, accused Sameer is undergoing treatment in police custody. So far, three of the accused persons have been arrested.

On Monday, local Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dinesh Khatik arrived at the spot and staged a Dharna. The BJP leader said that the last rites of the deceased victim will not be performed until all the accused including Dr Farahim who helped the perpetrators escape are arrested.
