Ghaziabad: Hindu man accuses one Faisal Khan of brainwashing his wife and attempting to convert her to Islam – What the FIR says

Sharma said that his 48-year-old wife has been working as a teacher at Santanary Public School located in Shastri Nagar for 13 years. She suddenly started displaying unusual behaviour after she started interacting with Faisal Khan, a computer teacher at her school.

On 23rd August, an FIR was registered in Kavi Nagar police station of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in which a 55-year-old man named Sushil Kumar Sharma accused one Faisal Khan, a colleague of his wife, of brainwashing her and attempting to convert her to Islam. In his complaint, Sharma said that Khan manipulated her through brainwashing and coercive tactics. He described a series of events that suggested a deliberate effort to distance the victim from her family and influence her belief system. OpIndia accessed copy of the FIR. Here is what Sharma said in his complaint.

Allegations of sudden disappearances and distressed state

Sharma said that his 48-year-old wife has been working as a teacher at Santanary Public School located in Shastri Nagar for 13 years. She suddenly started displaying unusual behaviour after she started interacting with Faisal Khan, a computer teacher at her school. According to Sharma, on 20th November 2023, his wife disappeared from home but was found in Govindpuran, Hapur road. The place where she was found was close to Faisal’s residence. Again, on 28th January 2024, she disappeared and was found in a distressed and disoriented state. This time, she was found near Dudeshwar Nath Temple in Ghaziabad.

Accusations against Faisal Khan

Sharma alleged that Faisal was involved in his wife’s disappearances and had manipulated her into applying for a job at Rajkot, Gujarat without her family’s knowledge. Despite her being already employed at the Santanary Public School, Faisal allegedly arranged for her to work at a school in Rajkot at a better salary raising suspicion about his intentions. Sharma said he was unaware that his wife applied for a job.

Disturbing findings and Faisal Khan’s arrest

Sharma noted in his complaint that he filed a police report in the matter and Faisal was brought in on 14th February 2024 from his workplace. Sharma pointed out that police failed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and instead relied on Faisal’s statement. The police got a settlement between the parties and in the settlement document, Faisal admitted to arranging a job for Sharma’s wife without her husband’s knowledge. Sharma further said that Faisal’s involvement in his wife’s life did not end there. Despite the settlement, Faisal continued to maintain contact with his wife.

Strange behaviour and suspicious documents

Sharma added in his complaint that his wife’s behaviour continued to worsen post-settlement. She stopped communications with her own and Sharma’s family. She stopped going to markets and temples and even abandoned wearing customary bindi and bangles. He further informed police that his children saw their mother in an Islamic prayer position and they also discovered handwritten slips in Arabic transliterated in Hindi in her possession.

Furthermore, Sharma also found a phone in his wife’s possession registered in Faisal’s name through and she was keeping in touch with him. When Sharma checked the phone, he discovered several Arabic-transliterated documents, cemetery photos, and suspicious land images. He also noted that his wife had been searching extensively about the Arabic language and prayers on Google. A new Gmail account in his wife’s name was also set up by Faisal, Sharma said.

Threatening letters and fear of attack

In his complaint, Sharma said that he had received two letters with derogatory remarks about his wife urging him to throw her out of the house. One letter was received on 8th December 2023 and the second letter on 6th August 2024. The letter contained false accusations against his wife. He expressed fear over receiving such letters and told police that his family might get attacked and they have been staying indoors and conducting their work from home.

Allegations of brainwashing and conversion attempt

Sharma said that Faisal and his accomplices attempted to brainwash his wife and convert her to Islam. He alleged that Faisal’s objective was to ruin her family rather than take her with him. He added that his wife’s condition demerited to the extent that she now resembles a mental patient and was undergoing treatment. He asserted that Faisal’s actions were aimed at destroying her mental health.

He added that his wife once enjoyed a stable and happy life but now she was manipulated and pushed on a dark path. The sudden change in her behaviour and repeated instances of distress signals to him that her life and his family’s peace were at risk.
