West Bengal becoming increasingly unsafe for women? After RG Kar incident, minor girl molested by hospital staff in Howrah

In a video, a woman was seen confronting the accused. She was heard saying that Aman forcibly kissed the victim and talked to her about vulgar things after shutting the door of the laboratory.

Amid the ongoing protests in West Bengal over the rape and murder of a junior doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, a disturbing case of molestation of an underage girl surfaced at the Howrah District Hospital on Saturday (31st August) night.

According to reports, a laboratory technician named Aman Raj molested a girl who was undergoing treatment at the hospital premises. Following an uproar over the incident, the accused was arrested by the Howrah police.

The victim was identified as a 12-year-old girl, who was admitted to the Howrah District Hospital on Wednesday (28th August) after complaining of chest pain.

She was reportedly molested during a CT scan at the hospital laboratory by Aman. The matter came to light after the victim narrated her ordeal to the family members.

In a video that has surfaced on social media, a woman was seen confronting the accused. She was heard saying that the man forcibly kissed the girl and talked to her about vulgar things after shutting the door of the laboratory.

Aman was seen dismissing the allegations and swearing in the name of his mother to plead his ‘innocence’. In the viral video, the girl child could be seen shivering and in a distraught state. She accused Aman of showing her obscene videos and inappropriately touching her.

Following the disturbing incident, the hospital administration has increased security at the premises. An internal grievance committee has also been formed to probe the matter.

The police have arrested Aman Raj and are now interrogating him in connection to the case.
