The Chief Minister added that the collaboration will focus on key areas such as transportation, hospitality, skilling, and logistics—each with significant potential for growth.
The global training centre to be set up in Guwahati will focus on aviation, logistics & aerospace technology. IIT Guwahati said that the initiative aims to develop Assam as a logistics hub & create a skilled workforce.
In the initial phase, Airbus will supply trainers, training materials, and tools from the Airbus Beyond catalogue for short-term courses. After this, Airbus will enable IIT Guwahati faculty to conduct ‘Train the Trainer’ programmes, allowing them to independently conduct Airbus courses while maintaining the curriculum, materials, and tools. Along with this, the partnership plans to co-curate long-term courses in the later phase.
On the other hand, IIT Guwahati will organise courses, admit trainee students, and provide necessary infrastructure and logistical support. The entire programme will be established at IIT Guwahati, with guidance and close coordination from the Assam government. Other state governments in the northeastern region will also coordinate in the program.
The program will enhance employment opportunities and career advancement for individuals in the northeastern region while improving service quality in the aviation and logistics industries. The partnership is in line with the Government of India’s Udaan scheme aimed at fostering development and socio-economic reforms across the country.
