Congress is known for nepotism and dynastic politics. Almost everyone related to a politician at top post feels entitled to a party ticket in the Congress. This was well demonstrated in the viral pic of dynastic scions in the recently concluded Congress plenary
Sons of Murli Deora, Rajesh Pilot, Jitendra Prasad, CPN Singh, Madhavrao Scindia and Bhupinder Hooda planning how to keep the stage empty and mislead the youth of the nation! This is the core team of none other than the son of Rajiv Gandhi. #DynastyRockshttps://t.co/nbT1YENruN

Now, Mrs. Ranjitha, the mother of Congress social media head, Ramya, is eager to plunge into the electoral fray in upcoming assembly elections . Since the party has not acceded to her desire to contest on a party ticket, she is exploring possibilities of contesting as an independent candidate. While speaking to a Kannada channel, she spoke of her desire to ‘serve people’. When asked if her ambitions clash with the role of her daughter, Mrs Ranjitha replied in the negative. Whether she will contest or not is unclear but this demonstrates, the persistence of nepotism in Congress.
Ranjitha has told CNN that she was disappointed for not having got anything after service to the party for 28 long years. Ramya’s mother has been a part of the women’s wing and campaigned for her daughter in previous polls. State Congress leaders have reportedly told that Rahul Gandhi will take a call on the matter. We need to wait and watch if Ramya’s mother will get a ticket or step back from the electoral fray in the state.
